Why Does My iPhone Have to Be So Smart?

iPhone Accelerometer

I can’t get my iPhone to stop rotating. The accelerometer is great and all, but it won’t stop! If I’m laying down, I can’t seem to get my screen to help me out at all, and I end up having to sit up to use my phone.

On a scale of one to extremely important on the scale of eternity, this issue really isn’t all that important. Regardless, I wish there was a fix.

I’d love a “Cancel” button or gesture or phone-movement that would take care of this. Ideally something like a shake when the screen starts to switch would send it back to the previous state. Maybe a three-finger touch would stop it dead in its tracks. Something—anything— would work great.

I was able to find a good post on this, “Stop! iPhone Rotation” which offers some helpful tips and applications. The suggestion sorta does the job, but I’d prefer a more decisive fix. The applications and toggles only work with a jailbroken iPhone, so that’s no good.

Somebody, please, agree with me!
