Fearless by Max Lucado

Max Lucado’s Fearless is being released today, September 8, 2009. I received a review copy a few weeks ago from Thomas Nelson, and I am supposed to review it today. Unfortunately, I didn’t finish the book.

In fact, I wasn’t even close to finishing the book: I only read the first chapter. However, I didn’t finish it on purpose. After reading just the first 15 or so pages, I literally closed the book, got in my car, drove to the post office, and mailed it to a person who I knew needed to read it right away. If the entire book is like the first chapter (which, by the way, you can read for free on Max Lucado’s site), Fearless has potential to be life-changing.

Here are two of my favorite quotes from the first chapter:

Fear corrodes our confidence in God’s goodness (9).

The fear-filled cannot love deeply. Love is risky. They cannot give to the poor. Benevolence has no guarantee of return. The fear-filled cannot dream wildly. What if their dreams sputter and fall from the sky? The worship of safety emasculates greatness (10).

See what I’m saying? This is going to be good. Read Fearless—today.
