Pros and Cons of Multi-Author Blogs?

Teamwork - Multi-Author Blogs

As you can see, it’s been about two weeks since I’ve last blogged. No blog-neglect-apologies for me, though; I’ve had a pretty legitimate reason…you can be praying for my family if you’re so inclined. Anyway, that’s not the point of this post. It just made me consider something:

Are multi-author blogs a good idea?

Sure, I get that they’re pretty much the norm for larger blogs (i.e., Techcrunch, Lifehacker, etc.), but what about for something slightly less professional, like LetsMoveToTheMoon?

Specifically, this blog isn’t exactly some sort of diary for me. It’s more of a sounding board. Coercing someone into co-authoring this blog with me could go one of three ways, as I see it:

  • Option 1: Our personalities, opinions, and writing styles complement each other nicely.
  • Option 2: We’re so much alike that readers hardly notice a difference.
  • Option 3: We fight until eventually the co-author somehow performs a hostile takeover and ends up in complete control.

I’d hope for option one. I’d like to hear from some people with experience in multi-author blogs. I’ll be revisiting this topic in the future with some actual ideas, but I’d like to hear from you guys first. Talk to me.
