One Easy Step to Become a Terrible Blogger

Terrible Blogger

That’s right, folks! I’ve got for you here one quick and easy step for you to become a terrible blogger! Our scientists have been researching this for years, and we’re finally ready to share our results with the public!

Here it is: frequency of blog posting is inversely proportional to post topic variance. In simple terms, the more you blog, the more liberty you earn to write about random things.

How did I come across this secret, you ask. Well, a few days ago I was discussing with a friend, Stephen Bateman, something I like to call the “niche blogging dilemma.” This occurs when you choose a specific topic on which your blog will focus but soon have a desire to write about other things. In thinking about this, I decided that that freedom to expand on your core topic comes with a greater frequency of posting.

It’s simple, really. If you write a lot of book reviews, readers won’t mind if you occasionally toss in a post about your new book-reading nook. However, if you are constantly talking about your new furniture and never discussing books, you better rethink your vision for your blog.

Tell me what you think about this. I’ve got lots of room to get better at this, so I’d like to hear your thoughts.
