Bad Drivers and Cell Phones?
March 13, 2008
As of March 1st, the state of New Jersey has banned the use of cell phones while driving – both talking and texting are a first degree offense, and I believe the fine is $100. I think this is a great law, and I believe that it should be effected everywhere. I know that talking on the phone in the car can be a good use of time, but I cannot tell you the amount of times I have almost been hit by someone on their cell phone. I recently saw a man texting and seconds later crash his car into a wall at 65mph, almost taking me out in the process. I work for an electric utility and this morning a girl on her cell phone split her car in two, taking two other cars out as well as a utility pole (see picture). I just drove across several states and the amount of people on cell phones on the road is ridiculous. Hopefully this law discourages people from talking on the phone or texting and toward paying more attention.
I have also seen a woman blowdrying her hair in the air vents once, but I doubt they will pass a law against that! What do you think about this new law?

Its a terrible accident in the picture, but this is so common these days, and one major cause is the use of mobile phone..Please drivers, be careful !

Good for them. Banning the use of cell phones or texting is something that has been a long time coming. Nowadays, teens don’t even realize how completely dangeours this is. Not to mention it drives up insurance rates for everyone.

its not only teens that text and drive, it is everyone. ive seen people in their 50′s and 60′s texting. ive seen soccermoms ive seen dads with kids in the back seat. quit being stereotypical like the rest of american and realize that it is everyone, not just teens.
