Digital Photo Frames

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

Digital Photo FrameWith Mother’s Day coming up, I tried hard to come up with a creative thing to make my mom. I went through the Photojojo archives, browsed my photo library, and thought long and hard about what I could make for her. It seems like all of the possible picture-related ideas have been done before, though. I’ve been avoiding the option of buying a digital picture frame since they are sorta expensive and seem kinda tedious, but it looks like I’m going to have to give in. Plus, I think she’ll really like it. Anyone have any recommendations on a company to buy from (or to not buy from), a size or model to choose, or other important details? I’ll be checking it out and probably going to Best Buy or Circuit City in a couple of days to pick one up. Wish me luck!

Electronics?

I got an email today about eztradein.com and their partnership with Circuit City. The link takes you a free appraisal page where you can put in the specs of your electronic device, whether it be a laptop, radio, television, etc., and it will give you a buyback price. The link allows you to automatically turn that into a Circuit City gift card. They offered me $173 for my laptop. I think I will keep it for now.

Anyone Use Evernote?

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008

Evernote LogoA few weeks ago Giveaway of the Day featured Evernote Beta as their free download of the day, and I took the liberty to download it without exactly knowing how I’d use it. I think it’s an amazing piece of software, as it allows its users to import images, text, and websites into one centralized location which is powerfully searchable and easily manageable. I’ve played around with it for a while, but I’ve still got one problem with it: although it’s really cool, I have no idea what to do with it. I seem to already have ways of storing and remembering things that I’m pretty accustomed to. I’d like to incorporate Evernote into that process, but I just don’t know where it would best fit. If anyone has any good ideas for what they use Evernote for, let me know in the comments.

Edit: Today only Evernote is allowing anyone to sign up for the service for free. Sign up!

Earthquake…

Friday, April 18th, 2008

EarthquakeI woke up in the early hours of this morning to the sound of various objects in my room shaking. My bed is really comfortable and I don’t like to be disturbed between 12 and 6am so I didn’t think much of it. It was one of those things where your senses become aware but you are still unconscious/dozing. I woke up this morning, went downstairs, and my roommate says “Did you feel the earthquake last night???” “Are you serious?” I replied. “It was shaking the house!” Well, so much for picking a safe spot to live. It measured a 5.2/5.4 and occurred out in in Illinois somewhere.

WordPress 2.5 Upgrade?

Thursday, April 17th, 2008

WordPressI can’t decide if it’s a good idea to upgrade to WordPress 2.5 or not. I’ve heard some mixed reviews about it. So tell me: is it worth it to upgrade or am I wasting my time?
